While there are some sections that offer very minor white water, the Diable river is for the most part calm and shallow. Please note this descent is outside of the National Park in a rural setting.
Our 3 hour self guided descent (approx 12km) is an easy descent on a gentle section of the river. Perfect for beginners, nature lovers and families. It starts directly from our base where you will return by shuttle bus at the end of the descent. You can also choose to start with a 10 minute transport from our base to a put-in upstream and paddle back down to your car.
Descent includes canoe, kayak or paddleboard (SUP). Kayaks are easier to control and more stable than canoes. Paddleboards are more difficult and require good balance.
Helpful hint! Helpful hint! If you choose to canoe, it’s important to understand that canoes are designed for 2 people and have only 2 seats. It is possible to put 3 if one is a child who will sit on the floor, but we do not recommend putting 4 in a canoe. Children under 10 probably won’t want to paddle the whole time, so they should go in a canoe with an adult or ride in a kayak that could be towed. The best configuration puts at least 1 adult per canoe, no more than 2 adults or 2 adults + 2 small children in a canoe ( 1 adult with 3 children won’t work in 1 canoe). Extra participants can take a kayak or paddleboard.
There are several canot/ kayak / paddleboard activities offered in the area, see our comparison table.
