Dog sledding is a sport. Participants will be active during the ride.
This full day personalised dogsledding activity offers you the opportunity to fully enjoy nature with your team, spending an extended period of time on the sled and getting to know the dogs while learning all about dogsledding.
You will spend 1h30 on the trails before stopping at the half way point where a traditional meal will be served in the heart of the forest. Afterwards, the ride continues for another 1h30.
Your guide will teach you about local wildlife as you head deep into the Laurentian backwoods. You will travel off-trail and enjoy the absolute quiet of nature during your rest stops.
Our guides will decide positions on the sleds. (If you have a particular position request please make it known to our guide when you arrive). There will be one driver and one or two passengers per sled. Adults will usually, but not always, drive their own dog sled with an adult passenger. Passengers and drivers can switch places half way through the excursion. Children may be required to ride as passengers on the guides’ sleds or ride on parents sled.

For this adventure, each sled has a guide, and the guide will decide how many people can go on each sled.
These dogs are working dogs who are bred to pull and run in a cold environment. They are trained and fed properly to be able to do it well. They like pulling a sled as much as a retriever likes fetching a stick. This will become obvious just before the ride starts. Feel free to ask your guide anything you want about sled dogs… learning about the dogs is an interesting part of the experience.
On the personalized adventures, the guide drives the sled but may allow participants to share the driving.
No, you can ride comfortably as a passenger the whole way.

Comments: I think we expected more for the value of the money for this activity. Staff was friendly there is no doubt there. We arrived at site earlier as advised and were told to go directly to the kennel. We weren’t approached until closer to leave time so made it a bit difficult to know what we were allowed vs not allowed to do. The guide gave us a brief rundown of the safety instructions and we were off. The ride itself was beautiful but felt really short. There wasn’t much interaction with the guide. I expected more from them as We kept promoting him with questions. Would have been good to have been provided some background and knowledge of the dogs, history of dogsledding and just in general nature. We made a couple of brief stops along the way mainly for dogs to rest but I didn’t feel I leaned anything new or got to know the dogs in any way. We were advised there would be hot chocolate provided and received none. It’s not the hot chocolate you care about it’s the experience and memories you creat for the children. When we got back no one offered any extra directions to us. We had to prompt and ask about the bisons only from reviews i read. Would have been nice to have been shown around the grounds and advised about horses etc. My son enjoyed petting the dogs but no one offered to show us the puppies. All in all, it was a fun experience but not worth the amount of money you pay. Extremely expensive. I expected so much more and a more personalized experience overall. I felt the staff was rushed to finish with us as we were part of the 3PM booking.
