Comments:  We had an excellent stay despite some rainy days. I would recommend the treehouse experience to those used to camping. The propane we were supplied with ran out so my only comment would be that perhaps the amount given/provided be based on number of days and people staying. Tea towels were pretty wet most of the time with 6 people and 3 meals/day!

Comments:  For the second year in a row, my experience has been negatively affected by other clients playing amplified music in / near the treehouses. Last year it was someone playing it on their treehouse deck, and I could hear it. This time it was someone across the lake, in a canoe / on the dock, I think. I would suggest looking at Ontario Parks "Radio Free" policy - it seems like it would be a good fit for Les Refuges Perchés.

Comments:  We enjoyed the activity. The cleanliness needs to be improved tho. We found lots of dog poop. We did not brought any dogs, yet we had dog poop near the cabin. The trail was also full of dog poop.

Comments:  It took a little while to understand the cross country ski map as well as the use of the two maps that were interchangeable throughout the trails. Some maps had a red sticker for "you are here" which was helpful, but not all of them did.

Comments:  Communication was great and the experience went beyond what I expected. I think what I liked the most was how well organized everything was but at the same time how off the beaten track it seemed so it wasn't micromanagd for you. The trails were beautiful and the treehouse had everything I could have needed!

Comments:  Overall we had a good time, trails were okay...several were closed. We wanted to take the water bridge trail but we couldn't. Also, since you are an eco park, I have a suggestion. Install rain barrels from the eaves to collect water for washing purposes.

Comments:  There are a number of improvements that would make the visit much more pleasant,given the nightly rates. 1. A dock for each treehouse, so families have privacy - in covid there is no space to distance so who gets there first gets to use it and the rest out of luck! 2. Screen door on the treehouse and more windows that open. It was sweltering hot and no cross breeze. we could not sleep with an open door but a screen would have been wonderful! 3. One outhouse per treehouse. Again- sharing one toilet for 8-10 people between two treehouses is unacceptable. No reason not to have one per treehouse.

Comments:  We loved our recent stay at the treehouses. I will say that I find it's quite expensive considering how much we had to do ourselves. The walk in nearly killed us and having to lug our own wood, ice, and drinking water in just seemed an extra thing that could be included for that price of the rental.

Comments:  The staff was extremely friendly, informative and cheerful what made a nice start of the short vacation. With respect to rates, if you are a party of 6 the renting of a treehouse is a good value but if you are only a couple, it becomes bit pricey.

Comments:  The experience was generally good. We were not sure about how much firewood would be required on a chilly fall night so we bought two bags just in case. However we found the treehouse very well-insulated and we barely used any of the wood we bought and carried with us. We ended up returning one bag (which we are grateful that reception allowed) but I wish we had more information regarding when the wood stove would have been advisable for best use (i.e. what temperature outside). We booked the treehouse between the on and off season, and there was a promotion applied so at this discounted rate (plus the park fees, firewood and battery charger rental), we did find it good value. I am not sure it would be the same should the rates be at full price during on season. We also found that some guests at other treehouses were a little inconsiderate, specifically one family who did not leash their big dog during their stay.

Comments:  The cupboard containing the grey water as well as the cupboard containing the dishes was very musty smelling, and the smell at times permeated the main room. In the kit we purchased, the propane canisters were half full so we ran out on our last day. This was fine for us but would be problematic for others. These are our only 2 suggestions for improvement!

Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know.

When guests put away dished that are still wet, normally they dry quickly. But with all the humid weather we've been having they have not been drying and can cause a musty smell. We will give those cupboards an extra cleaning. There is also cleaner in every treehouse for you to use if you need to.

In our cabin kit includes "1 bottle" of propane, but we will often give 2 half full containers to avoid waste. We have always had a propane bottle recycling program. We found we were sending too many useable bottles, still with propane in them, back to the recycler.

Comments:  The spatula hanging outside by the BBQ was not washed after previous campers and it made me question how clean the rest of the dishes and cabin was. The weekend was extremely hot and I found only having 2 windows open on the same wall prevented air flow. We were in cabin number 1 and the large mattress was in a little privacy alcove that had no air flow at all! There were mice up in the roof that we heard scurrying around all night long. And I didn’t find it fair that we were expected to mop the floors on the last day /especially with all the covid precautions that should be in place, you guys should be mopping the floors and decontaminating the whole treehouse -dishes and all! For the price, the weekend was not worth it.

 Hi,

Thanks for your comments. We do a thorough cleaning/disinfection but we must have missed the spatula outside. Floors are a 2 step process following the health Ministry's guidelines. When guests mop(step 1), it helps alot because we can gop straight to disinfecting the floors(step 2). The treehouses are in a wilderness area. That means dealing with critters. Infestations sometimes happen, and as long as you let us know about it, we can remove them. But we need you to tell us because mice are not active during the day and leave little trace. We just can't know they are there unless someone hears them in the night. We are aware of the airflow in some treehouses. Generally our nights in the Laurentians are cool, but during heat waves they are not. We made all our new Lakeside West cabins with cross ventilation and plan to retrofit Lakeside East this fall.

Comments:  The walk to the cabins carrying the chariot could have been better explained. All it says is pack light but any physical problems would make the walk impossible.

 Thanks for your feedback. You are correct. The walk is about 1km on a forest trail. It is not for everyone.

We should not forget the word "camp" in ready-to-camp. We are not a hotel or cottage connected to public services. We are an alternative lodging in the back-country that aims to provide an adventure (which is also a learning experience for some). It requires your participation when it comes to starting your fire, transporting your baggage, cleaning up after yourself, and respecting the environment of our protected park.

We welcome guests with physical challenges, and any questions they may have, but they need to decide for themselves if it is right for them. Maps and trail descriptions are all available on our website.

Comments:  This is our third time to the Refuges Perchés and have enjoyed out stay. Cabins are cosy, owners are friendly, and helpful, grounds are clean and well maintained. Enjoyed canoeing and hiking. Trails are well marked and varied in difficulty.

Comments:  We spend 4 nights in the beautiful treehouse 8 and enjoyed it to the fullest! Alarger dock would be great cause that\'s the only access to the lake to go swimming from the houses. It can be very crowed and then dangerous at times, cause the docks are very wobbly!

Thanks for your comments. But we do not plant plants in the Parc. We let nature do its own thing as much as possible. Better to wear a bug net, or spray yourself with some insect repellant. Bug season this year went from June 20 to about July 5th all over the Laurentian area. It was unusually intense this year because of a long winter and wet spring. It seems to be very much over now.

Thanks for the feedback. Here's a clarification: You paid 745$ before taxes for 5 nights in high season. And you bought 72$ of wood. The effective nightly rate paid 163$, and that was for a cabin with up to 6 people. A cottage for 6 people with a jacuzzi, during that period, in our area would be at 250$ - 500$ per night.

Outside of high season we have rates as low as $109 per night ANd a promotion for the 3rd and 4th nights at 50% off.

Comments:  Both of the operators present for check-in and check-out were very friendly and professional. They were able to answer any questions we had, and did so happily. The park is stunning and the cabin experience was one of a kind. The only complaint we did have was that our second bag of wood was pretty wet so it made it difficult to keep the fire going. Other than that it was amazing. We look forward to returning in upcoming seasons!

Comments:  The experiance was really good. There was a big snow storm the evening/night before my stay. Nancy called me and asked if I want to stay the day before to avoid the snow. I had to decline because i was unable to make it there the day before but was impressed with the effort. The staff in general were super helpful and professional. The information I received about the treehouse was completely accurate and exceeded my expectations.the value was amazing. We did book during a promotion period so it had extra value but in general I think the value is great. The only thing that could have made my stay would be a fee to transport our goods to the treehouse. It was a long day of driving and with the amount of snow they got the night before made the hike to the treehouse exhausting I would have defiantly paid for transportation of our stuff.

Comments:  Customer service and employees were professional friendly and knowledgeable. This trip was enjoyed by all of us and definitely recommend to anyone! My only feedback would be having an option of some of the amenities available in the treehouse prior to check in, even trying to pack light, as a family with a small child anything extra like the cabin pack (battery is pretty heavy) and ice and drinkable water jug filled, not to carry is helpful. I ended up doing a few trips back we forgot ice, then I didn't realize the drinking water was only at the main pavilion (my mistake). I didn't mind doing the extra trips but if there were an option where I could have paid a little extra and picked items from a menu of sorts to have it prestocked in the treehouse before arrival I would have chosen it. Same for leaving the same items in the treehouse, would have paid a little extra not to have to take them back on checkout day along with everything else we packed out. (just feedback still loved the whole experience, and even if kept the same way it is now I'd happily come back) Overall it was an amazing time and we will be back forsure! It was a great experience I recommend keeping the canoe, paying the rental fee and exploring the lake it's beautiful, Thanks again 🙂

Thanks very much for the comments. The reason we need you to get your battery at the reception is that we have to charge them in between each use and there is no electricity at the treehouses. Ice and water are the same reason, both requiring electricity. In terms of delivering amenities, we are trying not to take the "camping" out of our "ready-to-camp" experience. The adventure will always require a bit of work 🙂 We have found lighter batteries and will be oferring them soon. Yes, canoeing the lake is a must...and we may be including canoes in our price before the summer is out.

Comments:  Our stay in the Tremblant Treehouses was excellent. We LOVED the cabin and the walking trails. We were sad to leave our little treehouse (#4) and are already planning a return visit next winter. our only complaint (a minor one) was that the eavestrophe was leaking onto the stairs going up to the treehouse, making the stairs icy at the top. Thankfully there was a pail of sand to put on the ice.

The all inclusive is a good choice(saves money) only for someone who is either;

1) coming from overseas where it would be difficult to bring bedding from home (since the package includes sleeping bags).

2) intends on doing alot of canoeing or snowshoeing (since the package includes snowshoes for all guests and up to 2 canoes).

We will contact you to correct the billing if the all inclusive package is not what you wanted.

Comments:  The lady and man at the front desk during our stay were both amazing. They had great advice on keeping the treehouse warm, gathering water, etc. Their presence was reassuring and warm/friendly. I was concerned about odd hours for the activity center since it was the off season. Perhaps if they left a sign posting the next day's hour when they left that would help. So if we come in the evening to shower etc, we can see what the hours are the next day. Also it could be helpful to leave kindling and fire starter in the "emergency wood" cabinet. That way if the office is closed, a fire can still be started.

Hi,

Thanks for your comments. I am assuming the costs you mention are costs of optional items we sell. There are quite a few.  We sell ice, rent canoes and snowshoes, rent large batteries, sell firewood, propane etc... Generally alot of the same things as a campground would sell or rent. The park has a convenience store on site open in the summer with food, beer, camping supplies. They also sell fishing permits and rent fishing boats and charge a small entrance fee.

Basically all of these things can be brought from home(like propane, eco-logs), OR you don't really need them and they are optional(snowshoes, batteries). Only Park fees are mandatory, and cost $10 per cabin per night for this winter.

Our fire wood was cut 2 years ago and seasoned for a full year. It was dry, and is stored under a roof, BUT it has been a very humid fall with 65-90% humidity. Our wood is now humid. It burns well but starting it takes the right techique. Once the cold weather comes in january will dry out again. Until there are a few things that can be done. Comments:  The only glitch was that we called ahead to say we would be checking in late, but were not informed that the canoe would not be available, so we had to cart our luggage on land - much more difficult and less fun. Other than that, everything was great - clean, well equipped, comfortable, private and beautiful.

Comments:  As a first 'camping' experience for my wife and child, we had an amazing adventure. The staff (Nancy) was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. The facility was excellent, with what we hoped for. We wanted to go camping, but not ready to go rustic; this achieved it. We fished, swam, hiked, canoed, had a camp fire (with marshmallows, s'mores and popcorn), and rowed a boat. It is not too far, easy to find, has amenities if needed. Paddling to the treehouse is a must, instead of just taking the hike. We loved the experience and has encouraged us to do more. Thank you.

Comments:  The Bee Treehouse #5 was excellent. Appreciate that it was and very clean. Weather was very hot some days so it would have been more comfortable if more of the windows could be opened (with screens.) Too many mosquitos but there is nothing to suggest for that except maybe let guests know what months are high mosquito season so they can be prepared.

In your case you reserved on-line on our website, we fulfilled and in a sense we're glad to hear that it was simple and straightforward.

Comments:  The treehouses were great - a true camping experience! We were well aware that we were lugging our things in and out (including water and wood) as was outlined in the confirmation, and that we were lighting our own fire - all part of the experience. The kids even voted NOT to get the battery pack for lighting. We had a great time - the cabin and pavillion (and even the outhouses!) were clean and well kept. Leslie was super-friendly, organized and helpful. It was a reeeaaalllly good experience and we will definitely be back.

Comments:  We did provide feedback to Nancy who was very interested to hear if there were things they could do to improve. These are a few things that we talked about and that she indicated they are working on. The road was extremely muddy and it will be far better when the gravel is installed. Most people would have been very discouraged at having to drag a cart up a muddy hill and slipping all the way. I asked myself several times what I had gotten myself into, but once all the baggage was at the cabin things were fine. I certainly would have paid to have the luggage delivered to the bottom of the stairs. But it was all part of the experience and I will know better for next time 😉 I would have gladly paid an additional fee to have the wood and water delivered prior to our arrival at the cabin, Also, if we were able to advise that we would arrive at 6:00pm, if a log could have been put in the stove as the cabins were very very cold. I understand the "fire" hazard aspect, but perhaps something could be figured out as the houses stay warm for a very long while after the fire is out, so if it was started at 3:00 to warm it up and then just coals were left... as it took a good hour to heat the cabin up to reasonable temperature, I leave this to you if there is something you can do. The signage where each of the cabins are was very hard to see in the dark. I walked right past the sign for number 4. My husband did not see the ATV/Cart trail as he arrived at 9pm and went towards the pavilion and ended up taking the paths through the woods that were the hiking trails. The directional Treehouses arrow was not as clear as it could have been. He did eventually figure it out, but took two wrong turns on the paths before coming out at cabin 6 and 5 and then walking past #4 as the sign was missed as well.

We are adding reflective signage now. 

Gravel is being added continually when temperatures are above freezing. With the new packed snow on the trails are they are really good. 

Baggage can be delivered for 15$ each way. We've offered this service since August.

We don't have much of a solution for heating up cabins except this: When you reserve, choose a cabin that is occupied the night before. They are really well insulated and retain the heat all day without a fire. You can also start a fast/hot kindling fire. We are adding a kindling maker at the trailhead and also at the intersection of cabins 9,10,7,3,5

UPDATE AT JAN 20 2015 our staff are now starting fires prior to check-in on cold days, whenever they can.

Comments:  We had a great time. The staff at Refuges Perchés were friendly, knowledgeable, and up-beat! We found the cabin warm and comfortable. It was fun to canoe into the site! The hiking trails were very serene and beautiful. We also did a trip up to the Scandinave Spa during our stay and it was a good way to warm up (and get clean) during our stay. The pathways were a littlemucky when it rained. We suggest to encourage the people who run the park to upgrade the board walks on the hikes. Some are quite dangerous. Also a few hooks from which to hang a flashlight/ lantern in the cabins would be good. I also suggest having some board games to rent.

Comments:  Nancy and Leslie were extremely friendly, helpful, and answered any questions I had. As soon as we met Leslie in person (as he was the one working all weekend) he made us comfortable and was very efficient. For anyone that wants a real camping experience on a beautiful lake in a secluded finished cabin, Les Refuges Perches is perfect. This was a gift for my boyfriend's birthday and the trip exceeded our expectations. We are already missing our little cabin! We've shared our good memories with some of our friends and have a few that are planning to come up in the near future!

Comments:  The treehouse can use some improvements: small container hanged up above the sink with a tap so the dishes could be washed easier. It was a nightmare to wash dishes and the ones that were there were not so clean to start with. The trail that leads to the treehouse is very bumpy with lots of rocks sticking out and it was a challenge to hike at night. Not sure how people can drag the buggies on a hilly trail to their treehouses. The treehouses inside could be more cozy and charming- that was my expectation that was not found. The host was the only good part of all the experience- Leslie was awesome: welcoming, helpful and funny!

Comments:  This review is only about the Treehouse experience. Pros: We loved it! I stayed in the treehouse #3 with my husband and 2 daughters, ages 7 and 10. There was plenty of room. We liked our own space in the loft. Having a table and chairs was great for meals. We liked the log seats around the fireplace outside. We appreciated the inside stove and outside grill for cooking. Everything is new so it is all very clean. Good airflow on the first level of the treehouse with 2 windows that opened. The lake view is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed canoeing and swimming in the lake during our visit. We spent the entire day out on the lake. We visited with 8 other families from home so privacy and space weren't an issue for us as we had 9 out of 10 of the treehouses booked on site. Leslie who checked us in and out was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed joking with him at check-in and out. Things to think about: 1. We would have liked to keep the canoe from check-in to check-out and I think this should just be part of the treehouse rental for each night of your stay. It was time consuming to check back at the registration building with the canoe the next morning. 2. Suggest keeping the battery pack at each treehouse or have it delivered with the motorized boat by the operator. It is heavy and just adds to the stuff you have to trek in, along with the bag of treehouse candles etc... and water jugs. We packed really light and it still added to our load. 3. Consider 4 wheeled carts rather than wheelbarrow type carts. They are hard to push up and over rocks and hills. We knew there would be a trek in and out because of friends who visited in July and we packed as light as possible. We filled 1 canoe and 1 larger wheelbarrow with our stuff for a family of 4. The wheelbarrow cannot be overflowing as everything on top falls out as soon as you hit a bump. 4. Along the same lines of the battery pack, having wood delivered via motor boat would help with lugging all of our things to the treehouse. Have guests order ahead of time and have those things available at the treehouse upon check-in. 5. As I mentioned we were at the treehouses with a large group of friends so privacy and sharing were not an issue. However, I think the docks need to be bigger. They are very small to accommodate the number of treehouses and possible # of guests in each treehouse. The docks are a nice place to spend time when kids are swimming and pedal boating on the lake. A dock out in the middle of the lake would be fun too. 6. In treehouse #3 loft a second window for a crossbreeze or include a small battery operated fan? 7. The upper bunks need safety rails. I would not let my children (nor did friends who were with us in other treehouses) sleep on the upper bunk. Our daughters went to overnight camps and all bunks had safety rails. Those really need to be added. We were fortunate in that we didn't need to use the upper bunk during this visit. Notes to future glampers: We had a great time. My notes for improvement are simply that. The treehouses are great fun. We also had fantastic weather. I am not sure how my experience would have been had we not been able to enjoy the lake. When you pack, pack LIGHT!! And as my friend warned, pack light and then pack lighter. It is a trek to get to the treehouse, even from the canoe, you are bringing your things from the parking lot through a trail to the canoe and then from the canoe up hill to your treehouse and then up stairs into your treehouse. We stayed one weekend, we each had a backpack with clothes. In addition, 4 sleeping bags and coolers of food. When we go again in the future sometime, I would be very precise about our meals and snacks to pack even lighter with the food. As far as the activities listed on the website, many of these are 20-40 minutes away. When we first booked the weekend that was not clear. We did realize that before we arrived, but since we were only on sight for one full day we did not add any offsight activities. Keep in mind if booking offsight activities to take into account the 15 mins it will take you to get from your treehouse to your car. None of us in our big group had children under 6. I personally would have found it very difficult with younger children due to the hike in and out as well as finding it difficult to relax in and around the park. Most of us had walkie talkies to be in touch throughout the park. We liked it for our girls to have one if they were going to walk to another treehouse. Ours were waterproof so they could even take it out on the pedal boat with them. Other friends we were with had the same Motorola brand and we were all able to stay in touch. This is helpful as the treehouses are spread out from each other. Check the map carefully if you are planning to go with friends and want to be near each other. They are not numbered in order. Some are more closely clumped, but none are on top of each other. Lastly, be sure to wear sneakers/hiking shoes, flipflops or slippers for inside treehouse and watershoes for the lake.

Great suggestions, espc. having a raft anchored out in the lake. We will try to get permission for this, it would be great.

We don't have the manpower to deliver batteries, but we intend to replace them with lighter, smaller, lithium ion batteries. Safety rails are being added this fall for the bunkbeds. You are right, 1 day is not enought to visit our area, see the sights and do some activities. We are communicating this now on our website by recommending a 2 night minimum stay.

Our wood is harvested IN the Parc, about a kilometer away, in a forest managed by the Minister of Natural Resources. We provide a canvas bag that fits about 5 large logs and 5 pieces of kindling for 7.50$; market price.

It is important to understand that we offer treehouses in a back-country setting. Alot of  trouble was taken to build these treehouses without roads or trucks to bring our tools and materials in. All to provide a natural, quiet, wilderness setting, that still provides accessibility and comfort. No roads, no cars, no motors, no power lines, just forest, lakes and trails.

Treehouses, and alternative lodging like hobbit holes and yurts in general,  are all about Small Space Living. Having a small footprint on the land and as a consumer, and being efficient with the use of space. It is part of our mission to communicate this, but we understand it is a relatively new concept for most people to experience.

The key is to PACK LIGHT to make bringing in you stuff easy. Almost everything you need, except food and a sleeping bag, is provided.

UPDATE JULY 28 2014: We have added a baggage transport service, available 6 days a week, until early September. Pls enquire on check-in. We have added 5 large, flat bottom, river canoes that can take more baggage than our lake canoes. As usual these are free for baggage transportation, but we have extended this free period to 11am the next morning.

UPDATE AUG 21: As of August 30 we will no longer offer a baggage service. Only 3 guests used it.

We also list here a few extras that you can buy on site, but at your option. The full list with the exact number of pots and pans etc... is sent by email as soon as you reserve to help you pack. We believe that providing this in advance is just way too much information for most people.

Comments:  We found the activity expensive for what it was. It was very "do it yourself" camping, which is fine, but might as well pay 50$ for a camp site than 200$ for a treehouse. We also gave comments to the activities director and she basically said she would not "deal with that".

 Thanks very much for your comments. Just to clarify, our rates are 189 per night right now (high season) and drop to as low as $99 per night in low season.

Glamping, or alternative lodging, really cannot be compared to either a hotel or a campsite. As an example, to go camping, you need to have a cooler, cook stove, camping mats, dishes, pots and pans, pillows, a tent, and the list goes on and on. But these are all things that are generally provided in a "glamping" product. We also provide a wood stove, kitchen, balconies, waterfront, and of course a treehouse set in the wilderness. So yes...of course a camp site is less expensive...but less comfortable, more work, often less peaceful, and requires a substantial investment in gear. Just buy 2 good camping mats and you're up to $200. As for the comment our staff made, we sincerely apologize. We just opened and clearly have some more training to do.

Comments:  Was a bit more rustic than i anticipated and there needs to be a window on the opposite side of the other windows to allow for cross-ventilation as the treehouse stayed too hot for sleeping

 Thanks for your comments. We may add in a baggage service. Maps will be posted in the treehouses this week. BTW all maps are on our website too. Remember everyone, pack light. We're in a wilderness setting in a protected parc. No roads = peace, quiet, nature, small footprint.
