Our fishing guides will show you the best fly fishing spots along the Diable River fishing sector where you will be casting to feisty brown and brook trout. Depending on the time of year and water levels, the Diable River offers a wide range of fishing opportunities using a variety of techniques from light tackle to fly fishing using dry flies or weighted nymphs and streamers on sink-tip lines.

10 years old minimum. Children under 13 yrs and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Catch and release only.

Participants must follow the guide from the meeting point to the river in their own vehicle.

FAQ

When should I reserve?

A day in advance is sufficient. We often have same-day availability.

Can I keep the fish to eat it?

We encourage catch and release but if you catch a fish that is legal to keep, you can bring it with you. On Lake Ouimet, it is catch and release only.

Comments: Our guide, Cedric, was wonderful. The equipment was in excellent condition and Cedric made sure that we fully understood how to use it. His amazi. G attitude and friendly nature helped us all to. Catch a fish and thoroughly enjoy our fly fishing experience.

Comments: The service was no good at all. It rained so hard on that day starting from the night before. The service center should at least call us in advance and let us have a choice to reschedule the tour given that it is an expensive package ($260). The operator was not helpful either. Of course we had fished nothing and we were all looked like a drowned rat!

Management Response:

We are really sorry about what happened to your fishing excursion, but we were as surprised as you were. We had some rain in the days before, but excessive rain the night before. When our guides arrived at the river to prepare the equipment before meeting you they realized that the water levels were not safe for flyfishing. We have never seen the water rise so quickly, and to this height, in the summertime in the 20 years we have been here. There was not enough time to reach you as you were already on your way here. We will be contacting you directly to correct the situation.

Comments: In regards to fishing the first thing you'll hear is not to expect to catch anything big as that requires a lot of time. So the pictures advertising the activity are not representative. Adam was nice and friendly but I felt like being back stabbed when he called the activity center to say I we had an extra adult in the group. I have to boys 12 and 14 and the activity was for 2 adults and 2 children up to 17. He should have asked for IDs if he had doubts... I guess he just needed some extra cash.

Hi, Sorry for the confusion. It was a mistake we made in the initial reservation. We had you as 3 adults from the get go when you were always supposed to be a "family". Then when you let us know, our staff changed it to the correct price but without changing the participant type. It wasn't Adam(who was your guide) who called, since he clearly knew you were a family, it was his supervisor back in the office who noticed the error in the system and made an assumption. Just human error, nothing more...our apologies.

And we are adding photos of the family fishing on Lac Ouimet to our site...we just realized don't have any. Thanks!

Comments: Our guide is clearly was an excellent fisherman but didn't appear to know how to deal with a family for the 'Family discovery' package. Brief training was provided but no feedback on whether we were following instructions properly and no guidance on safety in a river environment. We were left alone on the river on numerous occasions and despite repeated requests our guide seemed unable to really understand that kids and adults require different guidance. For a family activity the equipment was insufficient sized to provide for our eight year old. Despite the above we all liked the activity itself.

Comments: martin was very friendly, informative and helpful on the trail and in the water. you can tell martin knew what he was doing ... my two students and i enjoyed the fly fishing! my students especially liked the fact that they caught a fish and i didn't!
