What to bring

  • Packing light means less to transport. Your bags, food, wood and water will be heavy.Do not bring wood unless it is a manufactured log or commercially packaged(kiln dried). Moving firewood, even just a few kilometers, can spread invasive insects and diseases to our forests and is no longer allowed in the Province. Sustainably harvested, carbon-offset firewood is available for purchase at the Reception. Fallen and standing trees, dead or alive, are home to birds insects and animals, so leave them intact. They recycle nutrients back into the environment through decomposition. Stripping branches from standing or fallen trees also detracts from an area’s natural appearance.
    • Sleeping bags (3 season) & pillows
    • Food & beverages: A well-stocked depanneur is located at park entrance, but is only open in summer. Closest grocery store is 25 minutes from the site.
    • It is not necessary to buy or bring water. Drinking water is available at the reception building. Lake water is located near your treehouse and may be purified or boiled for drinking water.

Note: Bottled water is discouraged due to landfill waste that it generates, and the additional weight you will have to carry.

    • Flashlights and batteries
    • Toiletries; biodegradable & phosphate free, and towels.
    • Appropriate footwear for living in the forest.
    • Slippers to keep your treehouse clean & dry
    • Your own snowshoes or micro-spikes or rent from our reception.

Activities On-Site

We had an amazing experience! The area was beautiful, with lots of hiking and ski trails right outside of our doorstep. Everyone there was friendly and ready to help with whatever we needed. The amenities were great. Our stay couldn’t have gone any better 🙂

Great stay, only complaint was an inconsistency in the ad which said pillows were provided, but the non-profit has changed that policy, they said they’d update the ad. Otherwise, absolutely zero complaints. Going back next year.

I went in the winter, stayed a weekend and went snowshoeing during the day. It’s such a great way to disconnect ( even though there’s wifi) and appreciate the luxuries of life. There is no running water and you have to walk to the bathroom. It’s so quiet located in the woods. The service was amazing! The only thing I would say is that there’s a lot of instructions: email, document when you arrive, and in the cabin, which I found a little overwhelming. Read the email you receive ahead of time and prepare for your trip in advance. Dogs are accepted ❤️

We stayed at Les Refuges Perches for 3 nights and it was the perfect getaway! It was quite remote and there were so many beautiful trails to hike and snowshoe. We found that the wood stove was enough to keep us warm at night but I would definitely recommend getting a warm sleeping bag as it cooled off by the time we woke up. The treehouse itself had everything we needed for our stay and was clean and comfortable. Overall we loved our stay!
