Canoe the Diable River in Mont Tremblant National Park on our self-guided canoe trip. Paddle down approximately 12 km of our meandering Diable River and take your time discovering our National Park’s unique mountain landscapes, sandy river beaches, rocky cliffs and wildlife.
Our fleet of canoes is renewed regularly to offer quality, comfort and stability. Paddles, life jackets, a 1 litre waterproof container, and safety kits are included with each canoe rental.
Here’s how it works
When you arrive at the park, check-in and get equipment from our park staff. Load your canoe on the trailer then take a 3 minute transport to Lac Chat put-in (drive yourself in low season). Paddle across this small lake to enter our Diable River (small 100m rapids here, the only one on the whole trip, can be portaged). Paddle downstream, stop for a swim, relax on a beach. Stop at the take-out (just after the 2nd bridge at our Park entrance) to meet our bus. Load your canoe on the bus for the trip back up to where you parked your car.
Helpful Hint!: Our Canoeing – Self-Guided Descent on the Diable River is suitable for beginners. Canoes are designed for 2 people. It is possible to put 3 if one is a child, but we do not recommend putting 4 in a canoe. Canoes have 2 seats. A 3rd person would have to sit on the floor. Do not expect children under 10 to be motivated to paddle the entire length of the trip, they should be put in a canoe with an adult or put in a kayak that could be towed. The best configuration puts at least 1 adult per canoe, no more than 2 adults or 2 adults + 1 child in a canoe. And any extras (odd man out) can be reserved in kayaks.
There are several canoeing/kayaking activities offered in the area, see our comparison table.
