Our Dogsledding in the Upper Laurentians is located 50 minutes from Tremblant resort in the Laurentian forest. This is for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone looking to experience mushing with Nordic dogs.

Our Dogsledding – Upper Laurentians takes place in the Laurentien forest north of Mont-Tremblant, where you’ll ride on trails through the mountains and wilderness. The experience rides from December through March, depending on snow conditions.

When you arrive, our guides will greet you and provide a safety briefing. Then you’ll head out for a 1-hour ride on the trails. We adapt the route based on the group – we have trails with varied terrain and others that are more relaxed. Depending on weather conditions, you might ride near a lake or pass through areas where beavers live. We guarantee one guide per sled at all times, and our guides will share information about the surrounding wilderness during your ride.

If you want to ride together as a family, choose one of our “family”  options to ensure you’re on the same sled.

After your ride, you’ll visit our kennel where you can meet more of our Nordic dogs. You can warm up by the campfire and try crazy carpeting on our toboggan slopes.

The experience requires moderate physical effort. You’ll be sitting as a passenger or standing on the runners as a driver, and you’ll need to help steer and brake the sled. Dogsledding is a sport, so participants will be active during the ride.

Dogsledding at Upper Laurentians was amazing. Guides happy & helpful. Dogs were super lovable & the views were so pretty. Both the experience in the sled & as a co-pilot were so fun. Would recommend. Upset with Mont Tremblant Activity Center because the switched reservation at last minute (fine) but OMITTED my husband even when I was extremely clear that there were 2 adults & 2 children. They even charged me for my husband but didn’t communicate that to dogsledding company nor myself. So he missed out. 😭

Who is This for?

Our dogsledding is for beginners to intermediate participants. You don’t need any previous experience with dogsledding. It requires moderate physical effort for drivers who will be active during the ride, helping to steer and brake the sled. Drivers need to be comfortable standing on the runners and leaning into turns. Passengers will sit in the sled under a blanket.

Know Before you Reserve

OUR DOG SLEDDING FILLS UP WEEKS IN ADVANCE FOR HOLIDAY WEEKS (Christmas, President’s Week, School Breaks) AND WEEKENDS. MAKE SURE TO RESERVE IN ADVANCE.

Age and Physical Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years old
  • Maximum 400 lbs per sled (example: 1 adult + 2 children under 90 lbs each)
  • If you weigh more than 250 lbs , reserve the “Adult (250 lbs/113kg +)” ticket and you will be seated in a guide’s sled.
  • No pregnant women
  • Participants must be able to sit or stand on the sled for about 1 hour

Group Dynamics

  • Minimum 2 participants per sled. If you are a solo participant, reserve the “Adult (250 lbs/113kg +)” ticket.
  • We guarantee 1 guide per sled at all times
  • Choose a “family” option to ensure your group rides together on the same sled
  • Multiple sleds depart together as a group

What to Expect

  • Duration: 1h30 total (1 hour on the trails, plus time for the kennel visit and warming up)
  • Location: Our base is 50 minutes from Tremblant resort, 2h15 from Montreal, and 2h30 from Ottawa
  • No restaurant on site and we’re far from any urban area – bring lunch, snacks, and drinks
  • We recommend bringing/renting a car in Montreal if you are coming to visit the Mont-Tremblant area and want to get around easily. We are in a rural area so taxis/rideshare can be limited or delayed in high season. That being said, you can also choose a low-impact adventure: many of our activities are accessible on foot, bicycle or by public transportation.

  • Guests should arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before departure

When should I reserve?

These are very popular activities. Reservations for weekends and vacations should be made 1 to 2 weeks in advance. For any other time, reservations should be made a few days in advance.

How many people can go in one sled?

We usually configure 2 adults per sled (one driver, one passenger). Children between 3 and 11 years old go with the guides for safety reasons. Configuration also depends on the weather and snow conditions.

Is it hard on the dogs?

These dogs are working dogs who are bred to pull and run in a cold environment. They are trained and fed properly to be able to do it well. They like pulling a sled as much as a retriever likes fetching a stick. This will become obvious just before the ride starts. Feel free to ask your guide anything you want about sled dogs… learning about the dogs is an interesting part of the experience.

Do we drive our own sled?

Yes, participants that are 14 years old and over and a minimum of 90lbs will have a chance to drive the sled, depending on the conditions.

Can we pet the dogs?

Yes, at the end of the ride, you get to pet and reward them.

Is it hard?

This activity can be strenuous for drivers. As a driver you are part of the team, so when the climbs are steep the driver will have to get off and walk, jog or even help push the sled.
