On a private ride here’s no waiting on others, no adjusting to a stranger’s pace, and no shared guide. Your guide is focused entirely on you — your skill level, your speed, your stops. If someone in your group wants to take an extra few minutes to get a shot of the frost-covered pines, you stop. If everyone’s feeling confident and wants to push a little further, you push.

Imagine heading out at first light with your friends or family, the trail ahead completely clear, your guide in front setting a pace that fits your group from the very first kilometre. That’s what a private ride feels like — unhurried, personal, and built around the people you came with.

All three durations follow well-maintained forested and hilly trails of the Upper Laurentians on a Ski-Doo Expedition Sport or Grand Touring 900 ACE.

  • The 2h ride gives you a real feel for the terrain and is a strong choice for a first-time group or a group with younger passengers.
  • The 4h takes you further into the backcountry and includes a mid-trail break in the woods — bring something to eat.
  • The 6h is for groups who want to cover serious ground and spend the better part of a winter day on the sled.
  • All options include 3 to 4 stops to swap drivers and passengers and take photos.
  • The evening departure runs on the same 2h route. Riding at night with your own group — headlights cutting through the dark forest, very few  other sleds on the trail — is a genuinely different experience from the daytime ride.

Who is this for

Private rides work for any experience level — from a family trying snowmobiling for the first time to a group of seasoned riders who want a full day on the trail without sharing the experience with strangers. The 2h option is the right starting point for beginners or groups with young passengers (5 years minimum). For the 4h and 6h, drivers should be comfortable with the throttle and brakes before heading out; passengers need to hold on behind the driver for the full duration. In terms of difficulty, the longer options require low sustained effort — not strenuous, but 6h on a sled takes some endurance

Private rides are a popular choice for celebrations — birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette weekends, corporate outings, or any moment where the experience matters more when it’s shared only with the people you chose to bring.

FAQ

When should I reserve?

This is a very popular activity. Reservations for weekends, Christmas vacations and spring break should be made 1 or 2 weeks in advance. For any other time, reservations should be made a few days in advance.

Is the equipment provided?

Yes all equipment is provided. Helmet, mitts, snow boots, snowsuit, trail access, gas, insurance and guide. Balaclava mask is mandatory but not included. You can buy it onsite at 15$.

Is it dangerous?

There is an element of risk in all outdoor activities. Snowmobiles can go as fast as cars. After a security briefing, you will drive the snowmobile yourself if you have signed up as a driver. This means YOU control the speed. Risks are minimized by running the excursions under the supervision of professional guides. The group always follows guides on dedicated snowmobile trails. It is important to follow the instructions that are given at the beginning of the ride.

How should we be dressed?

Consult our What to wear page.

How old do we have to be to drive?

To be a driver, participants have to be 21 years and older with a valid automobile driver’s license.

Is my driving probationary license accepted?

The G1 license is NOT accepted. The G2 license is accepted.
